Robert Vickery

Robert Vickery is best known for his organ transcriptions and interpretation of the Romantic repertoire. He has studied piano with Thelma Johnson, organ with Dr. Edward Berryman and harpsichord with Jane Burris. He considers the late Virgil Fox to have been the artist most influential in the development of his playing style. He has held positions of Organist/ Choirmaster at Messiah Methodist Church, in Wayzata, Minnesota, Assistant Organist and Choirmaster at Westminster Presbyterian Church and Organist at the Basilica of St. Mary, both in Minneapolis. In 1981 he was appointed to the position of Organist/Associate Director of Music at the Church of the Holy Childhood in St. Paul and was named Director of Music in 2005 . | | Mr. Vickery made his New York City debut in November 1983, playing the third annual Virgil Fox Memorial Concert. He has served as accompanist for all of the major choral organizations at the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas. He has been a member of the American Guild of Organists since high school and has served on the executive board of the Twin Cities Chapter and the steering committee for the 2008 National AGO Convention. He is the past president of the local chapter of the Organ Historical Society and in 1997 was a featured recitalist at the OHS National Convention in Portland, Oregon.
